Safety edges do their job wherever moving edges pose a danger to people. The risk areas are secured with rubber hollow profiles. When touched by a person or an object, this switching profile is deformed and the dangerous movement is stopped.
Safety edges have to meet a large number of requirements in different areas of application. These can be divided into the following three classes.
security
A hazard analysis and risk assessment defines the safety requirements for the safety edges. Approval by a certified body is also required.
reliability
Non-functioning safety devices lead to machine downtimes, which have a significant impact on the work process. High availability of the system used is therefore urgently required. The safety edge must also be resistant to environmental influences such as moisture, dirt, vibration and aggressive media.
cost efficiency
Quick and easy assembly, short delivery times and simple logistics all contribute to customer benefits.
